Our Services

Our team of instructional designers and mobile application developers offer you a range of applications development solutions to solve specific pedagogical problems. These include the development of mobile applications (apps) designed to meet teaching and learning needs, in order to optimise communication, interaction and connectedness.

Our ULIP team will study your pedagogical needs and offer you intuitive, aesthetically built mobile app solutions with innovative and engaging content that is pedagogically sound, thereby complementing the user experience and enabling contextual and individual learning. We will begin by working with you on exploring pedagogical issues like:

  • What part(s) of your lesson plans are you mostly passionate about? How could you best communicate that enthusiasm to your students?
  • Where do your students encounter roadblocks around a topic or understanding of a concept?
  • What might help them overcome these difficulties?
  • What concepts would you like to cover in your class but do not have enough time?
  • What are the opportunities to gain insights into student learning through the content with apps?

The “access anywhere” nature of the mobile app solutions our team develop will not only allow for user participation and dissemination in new and creative ways, but also optimise communication, interaction and connectedness, thereby fully engaging both students and faculty. To help evaluate an app’s engagement level, we consider the following:

  • Is the app appealing and does it give a good first impression?
  • Does the subject matter appeal to the intended level?
  • Does the app design appeal to the intended level?
  • Is the app intuitive?
  • Is the app one that students will return to often?
  • Does the app open up new ways to learn? How does it let students do things they haven’t been able to before?

Our team will remain involved throughout the project to continue providing guidance for the development of the app, focusing on providing guidance to you in the development of teaching and learning strategies and whether the app’s design meets your specific learning goals. From an instructional design angle, we consider the following:

  • Does the app effectively communicate its content and subject matter?
  • Does the app have a specific purpose and how does it achieve that?
  • How does the app build on skills and guide the student?
  • Are there relevant opportunities for feedback, assessment, and reflection?
  • Does the app offer personalized or adaptive features that are based on a student’s skill level?

We believe that the apps we develop will assist in creating a learning environment that keeps students motivated and engaged. To help determining whether the app meets the criteria for motivation, we consider the following:

  • Is the learning content in the app the right level for your students?
  • Will students want to go back to the app often?
  • How does the app build on skills?
  • Are gaming principles used?
  • Do the methods used to motivate align with learning outcomes/goals?
  • Does the app provide a bridge from the classroom to the real world for expanded learning (for example, via GPS)?
