The Chinese Medicinal Plants Guide (CMPG) is a searchable built-in database containing over 1,000 species of commonly used Chinese medicinal plants (including their names in Chinese, English and Latin) which have been systematically consolidated and summarized in the form of plant images and annotations. The CMPG effectively supplements the Medicinal Plant Images Database (MPID) 中藥材圖像數據庫 available online on the Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) School of Chinese Medicine (SCM) website. The CMPG is accessed by incorporating the same features with the exception of the advanced search functions and linkages to the Chinese Medicine Digital Project databases such as the Chinese Medicinal Material Images Database 中藥材圖像數據庫 (CMMID) and the Chinese Medicine Specimen Database 中藥標本資料庫. Moreover, the CMPG is a portable "light" version format of the Medicinal Plant Images Database (MPID) and has been specifically developed as a versatile reference tool for use by students of Chinese medicine and medical practitioners on the move and in the lab or clinic.
The Chinese Medicinal Plants Guide (CMPG) assembled database is a comprehensive source of information and value that enables the user to search for detailed descriptions (i.e., images, shapes and forms, geographical distribution and clinical efficacy) of various medicinal plants. A new feature recently added to the app (iOS, Android) allows direct linkage to the full online version of the Medicinal Plant Images Database (MPID), accessed from the HKBU SCM website. Hence, the app offers the additional attraction of direct linkage to other SCM databases. Moreover, the new search toolbar allows for quick and convenient access to the search function without the further requirement to open a separate find page.
